Malty and Bitter Quotes

"Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza."

-Dave Barry

"I would kill everyone in this room for a drop of sweet beer."

-Homer Simpson

At the Taps

The 2008 Grizzly Peak Brew-Off was a success! Congratulations to Bob and Kim Barrett for their 1st place Amarillo Pale Ale and to Alex Petit who came in 2nd with his Frankenstiener Weissbier (incidentally, these are the same winners from last year. Go figure). I imagine Bob, Kim and I will be brewing up something yummy in the next month or so. Stay tuned. Summer is here!!! Lets roll:

El Hefe is back! Our ultra smooth Bavarian-style Weissbier choc full of banana, clove, crisp wheat and yeasty goodness.

My assistant Fred came up with Haar der Ziege (Hair of the Goat) Maibock. Maibocks are generally lighter in color than Bock beer and brewed to be tapped in the spring. It will be on in early May, but it will go quickly!!

Poolside Lager should be on in late May and be available most of the summer. Since this beer sells very quickly, it will only available in house (no kegs or keggies).

For something a little different there's Belgian Black Bier, a rich, chocolate and malty trip to a spicy Belgian paradise. At only 4.5% abv, you can afford to have a couple of this flavorful session beer.

Sheerwater IPA will be docking in early May. It's a traditional English India Pale Ale with big earthy hop character.

Texas Brown will return some time in June, so look out for the chocolatey, caramelly, American Hopped treat!

That's it for now. Don't forget the Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Festival is Friday and Saturday, July 25th and 26th!!

See you around the taps!
-Duncan
